CELLULAR GENETICS (Takaomi Sakai, Satomi Takeo, Tsunaki Asano)

How is animal behavior controlled by the brain?

The fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, for which various genetic tools are available, is an excellent model to elucidate the molecular and cellular mechanisms of innate and learned behavior. Using Drosophila. we study learning and memory, sexual behavior, sleep, circadian rhythms. Key words: environmental factors, stress, trauma, brain imaging, and optogenetics.
