How was the application and admission process in TMU?

The application and admission procedure in TMU was very smooth as my experience. During admission, I received a lot of support from the university. The university staffs are very helpful and cooperative. According to my experience at TMU, the application and admission process is easy, not that difficult.  

How was your experience adjusting to life as a foreign student in Japan?

It’s true that starting life in a new country and a new culture is always challenging, specially without family. As a foreign student in Japan, my initial experiences were a bit of a struggle related to language barriers, finding halal food as a muslim student and navigating unfamiliar social norms, but with time, I was able to overcome these barriers. Moreover, it allowed me to discover a new version of myself. These valuable experiences will forever hold a special place in my heart.   

How was your experience doing research as part of your laboratory?

My time as a PhD student in my laboratory (Plant Development and Physiology) at Tokyo Metropolitan University has been incredibly rewarding. The laboratory has provided a rich academic environment and ample opportunities for growth, both personally and professionally. The guidance I received from my supervisor played a helpful role in shaping the trajectory of my research and developing my skills as a researcher. In my experience, being a part of this lab as a research student is truly admirable. 

What challenges did you face as a student and how were you able to cope with them?

As a student, the major challenge is finding a topic for research. I felt the same way. But with the guidance of my supervisor, I was able to overcome this challenge.  

Would you recommend prospective students to do their graduate program in TMU?

Yes, for students who are interested in research and academic development, Tokyo Metropolitan University (TMU) can be a good option. TMU offers strong support for international students, including tutoring, consultations, and academic writing assistance. Additionally, they have programs focused on Japanese language and culture, which can be beneficial for those new to Japan.
